FAQ
Ferronato products are designed to protect two things: your devices and your credit cards.
There are two types of protection.
- Device Privacy (for phones, tablets, and laptops)
When your device is placed inside one of our privacy sleeves, it cannot send or receive any wireless signals. This includes mobile networks like 5G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS location signals, and other radio signals. It works like placing your phone inside a quiet, sealed envelope that blocks communication. - Card Protection (RFID shielding)
Many payment cards and passports contain small chips that can be read wirelessly. Our wallets and selected bags include special compartments that block those wireless scans, so your card information cannot be read from a distance.
Privacy shielding means physically blocking wireless signals from entering or leaving your device. Instead of turning something off with software, Ferronato products use a special fabric that acts like a barrier. When your phone is inside the sleeve, it is completely disconnected from the outside world.
A fair and important question.
Airplane mode reduces certain connections, but it does not physically isolate your device. WiFi and Bluetooth can still be reactivated, and some background functions may remain active.
A Ferronato privacy sleeve works differently.
It creates a physical barrier around your device, preventing signals from entering or leaving.
Your phone becomes truly unreachable while inside, a tangible and dependable way to disconnect wherever you are.
If your phone is inside a Ferronato privacy sleeve, it will not receive calls, messages, or notifications. Anyone calling you will be redirected to voicemail. When you remove the phone, it reconnects and you will see missed calls.
Our bags offer flexibility. You may keep your phone in a regular pocket when you wish to remain reachable, or place it inside the privacy sleeve when you prefer complete digital silence.
RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification.
It is a technology used in contactless credit cards, ID cards, and biometric passports. These cards contain a tiny chip and antenna that allow them to be read wirelessly by payment terminals or scanners.
RFID shielding blocks those wireless signals so your card cannot be read without your knowledge.
Device Privacy is for electronic devices like phones and laptops. It blocks all wireless signals when the device is inside the sleeve.
RFID shielding is only for cards and passports. It blocks the specific radio signals used to read the chip inside those documents.
One protects your device’s communication. The other protects your identity and financial information.
You can test it easily.
For privacy sleeves: Place your phone inside the sleeve and wait a few seconds. Then try calling it. If it does not ring, the shielding is working.
For RFID compartments: Place your contactless card inside the protected slot and try making a payment. If the terminal cannot read the card, the RFID protection is active.
No.
The shielding fabric, called MetaFab®, is extremely thin and lightweight. It is carefully integrated into the lining of the product. Your wallet or bag remains flexible and elegant.
Yes.
MetaFab® is a passive shielding fabric. It does not emit signals, store data, or create radiation. It simply blocks wireless signals when they try to pass through it.
It was originally developed for industrial and aerospace environments where signal control is important.
No.
When your phone is inside the sleeve, it behaves as if it has no signal, similar to being in a remote area. The fabric itself does not consume battery power.
No, as long as the lining is not physically damaged.
The shielding fabric is durable and designed to maintain its performance forever when used and cared for properly.
Yes.
Ferronato privacy sleeves block wireless signals, not X-rays. They do not interfere with airport security systems.
Ferronato bags include shielded compartments designed to reduce signal activity when your phone is placed inside.
They are not medical devices, but they are engineered to create a more controlled digital environment.
Yes.
We use Leather Working Group certified leathers and work with responsible partners. Our production methods prioritize reduced environmental impact and fair working conditions.
To preserve both the leather and the shielding:
- Do not overfill the product.
- Avoid sharp objects that could damage the lining.
- Use only products designed for fine leather.
- Store in its dust bag when not in use.
- Keep away from excessive heat or humidity.
With proper care, your Ferronato piece is designed to age beautifully.
Ferronato was created from a simple observation: we live in a connected world, but we rarely control it.
Traditional leather craftsmanship focuses on beauty, durability, and function. We chose to integrate advanced Swiss-developed shielding fabric into that craftsmanship, so our products do more than carry your essentials.
They give you control over your connectivity.
It is not about fear of technology. It is about intentional use of it. Ferronato combines heritage craftsmanship with modern signal control to create pieces that are both elegant and intelligent.
